As divisive as the Game of Thrones finale has been, the cast has been putting on their bravest and most grateful faces. Even if their emotions about the last season have been mixed, the actors have mostly focused on the positive, and that includes Brienne of Tarth, played by Gwendoline Christie.
On her Instagram, the actress thanked the cast and crew and the legions of fans, complete with a sword emoji. “THANK YOU. There is no other way to start this,” she said.
Christie, like her co-star Emilia Clarke, struggled with the ending of her character. On the plus side, however, it turns out she correctly predicted the finale years ago, so she could give the all-seeing Bran a run for his money.

Many fans had hoped that Brienne might end up with Jaime Lannister, and Christie indicated she wanted that too. Instead, Jamie went to King’s Landing to be with her sister/lover Cersei. The sibling duo ended up dying together as the Red Keep crumbled on top of them after Daenerys’ fiery attack.
“I was so upset for her,” the Christie said to EW about their parting. “I know it’s just a character and I’m an actor who’s lucky to do her job. It’s so heartbreaking. But it’s life isn’t it? Life is heartbreaking. I never assumed they would be together. I didn’t think that would happen. And now I can feel a million hearts breaking.”
Indeed, she was so distraught after reading the script that she had to go for a walk to try to process it. Clarke expressed similar sentiments, saying she had to do the same thing when she learned that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) would kill his aunt and former lover.
Did Gwendoline Christie predict the ending of ‘Game of Thrones’?

While Christie was not so good at predicting her character’s own fate, she did correctly call the ending of the show several years ago on Extra. At the time she was trying to forecast who would take the Iron Throne.
“Don’t you think it’s going to be someone out of left field … what we know about the show is that it constantly surprises you, so I’m wondering if it might be Bran,” she said. She turned out to be sort of right. Bran doesn’t take the Iron Throne itself because Drogon torches it. However, he does end up as king after a council vote.
None other than Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaimie, scoffed at the idea, saying it didn’t make any sense. So in the end, Jaime got served in more ways than one.

Victorious or not, Christie went out on a grace note on both the show and on social media. The show has Brienne writing Jaime’s entry in the book.
The actress told The Wrap: “She chooses to honor someone that she deeply respected and probably loved in a way that no one else would do .. And so she chooses to use her power in a very pure way to honor someone who gave a lot to her. And she overlooks that pain.”
On Instagram, Christie wrote: “Playing Brienne of Tarth has redefined the way I look at the world, women and particularly myself. I have never felt so exposed by a character, but happy knowing that those feelings of discomfort were about shaking off convention and embracing strength and authenticity … My heart aches with how much I will miss Ser Brienne of Tarth. But what she has inspired I will take with me. Thank you.”Read the original article from The Cheat Sheet
